Consumer Priorities for Research
There is increasing recognition of the importance of including people living with mental disorders as active partners in mental health research. The Consumer Priorities for Research project will identify areas people with a lived experience of depression or bipolar disorder consider of importance for research.
This project involves inviting mental health consumers and advocates to share their ideas in group and individual discussions. The ideas generated from these discussions will be used to survey a wider population of mental health consumers.
Areas identified by consumers in this project as priorities will be used to inform the strategic directions of research funding bodies. These areas will also be used as a framework for future research at the ANU Centre for Mental Health Research’s Depression and Anxiety Consumer Research Unit and more broadly.
